Kangaroo Point Rovers Football Club (nee PINEAPPLE ROVERS) Club History

The original Pineapple Rovers are thought to have formed around 1886 when the headquarters of the Anglo-Qld Football Association was the Pineapple Hotel. They became one of the most successful clubs in the league before and after World War 1 taking out a number of Division 1 Championships in the 1920's. Meeting a member of the 1928 winning side in today's Pineapple Hotel led to the formation of today's Pineapple Rovers. The club re-formed in 1996 as Inala City's 8th Division, not having the resources to join as a full member. We had a great year there, making lots of new friends and firmly embraced the challenge to once again become a force in Queensland soccer.

Promoted to 5th Division in 1997, we then moved to Eastern Suburbs. It is with many thanks to Easts that we were eventually able to join the Football Brisbane Metro Leagues as the Pineapple Rovers. 1997 saw us win the Grand final and gain promotion to the 4th Division for the following season.  In season 2000 we won the League and Cup double, while 2002 saw us win the Division 3 (soon to be re-named Metro 1) Grand Final.

Success has come our way and we are proud of the support that we have built. 2003 saw us make a big move away from Easts Heath Park, and into our own home at Raymond Park Kangaroo Point, which we hope to improve over the coming years into a ground with good facilities.  There is plenty of work to do!

2004 saw us introduce Women’s teams to the roster and they had instant success, much like the men, winning titles and Grand Finals from the off.  2005 saw big changes at Piney Rovers, with a name change.  Kangaroo Point Rovers became our new title to enable us to have a closer link with the local community.  In 2007 KPR took another huge leap forward by gaining promotion from the Metro Leagues into the Brisbane Premier Leagues, and finished in the top half of the table.  Our women were also been promoted up into Division Two.

The club plays at Raymond Park, Baines Street, Kangaroo Point and currently has 4 senior men's teams and 2 women's teams.
