Match Reports
KPR Reserves v Annerley
KPR travelled out to Don Randall Oval for the final game of the Bayside Preseason Tournament wanting to build on the good form that saw them beat Taringa the week before so convincingly.
Whilst a 6:30pm Friday evening kick off never helps with team preparations, this wasn’t a good enough excuse for a poor showing. With many new faces looking to build a case for selection in the squad for the rest of the season, it was time for KPR to show what they could offer this season.
Unfortunately, the game started poorly with some poor marking and good running from Annerley’s wide midfielders creating a chance that was quickly dispatched with clinical finishing.
KPR starting playing some better football but ended the half down by 3-1.
Some changes to formation were made at half-time but unfortunately KPR couldn’t stem the flow of goals and into a growing head wind continued to concede goals, in fact 5 more in the second half to make it 8-1.
In the end it was a night that the KPR Reserves will want to forget very quickly. Hopefully lessons will be learnt and they can take it into a game against the team that won Premier Division 2 Reserves last season Park Ridge. However, with 2 more pre-season games left before the season starts properly all is not lost.
